Josh Shaw has always been a weird Black kid trying to find a place where he belongs. With his debut album as Blvck Hippie, he’s on his way to make the Indie Rock world that place. “If You Feel Alone at Parties” is a brutally honest and heart-wrenching look into the mind and heart of Josh Shaw. Recorded mostly over a 3 day weekend in Memphis, TN, “If You Feel Alone At Parties” takes a deep dive into the difficult themes of escapism, grief, and trauma. Instantly catchy guitar licks weave in and out of Josh’s gritty vocals accenting the vulnerability of the lyrics. The album digs you into the deepest crevices of despair and leads you out the only way that makes sense… screaming along in a desperate attempt to find a catharsis when it all feels like too much.
